The 8th grade went on our Louisiana History trip to Baton Rouge and New Orleans March 28-30. We went on an airboat tour in Des Allemands where we ran across Big Al, the resident 13-foot gator, in the swamp.
In New Orleans, we stayed at the Westin and several of the students and parents ran into Bruce Willis in the elevator! He was filming scenes for his new movie Red just a street over from our hotel. The class visited the D-Day Museum that has just added a 4-D theater. We went to the Insectarium where we tried recipes like meal worm salsa and chocolate chip cookies with grasshoppers! We also went to a Hornets-Lakers game. The Hornets won 108-100! In Baton Rouge, we took a tour of the State Capitol Building. We got to sit in the balcony and observe the Senate while it was in session. Afterward, several of us got to meet Senator Gerald Long. The trip was a lot of fun and we got to experience a lot of culture and history. |
