Graduation Requirements

Eligibility to Participate in High School Graduation Ceremonies

Riverdale Academy issues a diploma upon the successful completion of all requirements mandated by the Board of Elementary and Secondary Education (BESE), the Louisiana Department of Education (LDOE), the Mississippi Association of Independent Schools (MAIS), and RIverdale Academy. Diplomas, report cards, and transcripts for graduation seniors will be held until ALL fees, textbooks, etc are paid or collected. Students may not participate in graduation ceremonies unless all fees have been paid in full and chromebooks returned prior to graduation.

Minimum Requirements for Graduation

A student must obtain 24 total units to graduate from high school.  The requirements for these units are as follows:

English – 4 units
1.  English I
2.  English II
3. English III
4. English IV

Mathematics – 4 units
1.  Algebra I
2.  Geometry
3.  Algebra II
4. Advanced Math

Science – 4 units
1.  Physical Science
2.  Biology
3.  Chemistry
4.  Physics

Social Studies – 4 units
1.  Civics
2. World Geography
3. U.S. History
4. World History

Foreign Language
Two credits of the same language (Ex: Spanish I & II)

Health and Physical Education – 2 units comprised of
1.  .5 unit of Health
2.  1.5 units of Physical Education

Electives
Fine Arts and three other academic electives
