AUTOMOBILES

Students are required to sign and follow the Riverdale Student Driver Policy. A copy of this form must be on file in the office. The form is located in the back of this handbook.Automobiles must be driven on and off the school grounds in a slow, safe manner, are to be locked, are off limits during the school day (unless escorted by the SRO), and must be parked in the student parking lot during school hours and all
practices. Students will not be allowed to drive the back of the campus at any time during the school day. After school, automobiles will exit as directed by school personnel.

TRAFFIC FLOW

Between the hours of 7:30 – 8:15 a.m. and 2:10 – 3:10 p.m. student traffic will enter the campus from the north (enter Riverdale Road from LA Highway 514), and will exit to the west (exit front drive to LA Highway 515). This is very important for the safety of the younger children during the dismissal process. Parents delivering students will enter the west driveway near the Kindergarten building and exit the other west driveway. In the afternoon, parents will enter the north driveway, make a loop in the parking lot by
the PreK playground, and exit the west driveway once their student(s) are in their car. ALL drivers must drive slowly and follow directions of school personnel. No driver should pass another vehicle in the driveway unless directed to do so.

PERMISSION TO RIDE ANOTHER SCHOOL BUS

If a student needs to ride a different bus from his/her assigned bus:
1. The parent shall contact the school office at least one day prior to making the change.
2. The principal will determine the availability of seating and inform both bus drivers.
3. The parent will be notified (approved or unapproved).
4. Written permission from the parent must be sent to the student’s teacher the day the student is to ride.
5. The note will be filed in the office.
*If the student does not have a bus contract filed in the office, the parent shall send $5.00 per ride with the note to the teacher.

*Please make sure each child knows which bus he/she will ride or if a parent will pick up from school before the child leaves home each day. In the event of an emergency, you may call the office to notify of changes in transportation. No changes in transportation can be made after 2:15 PM! All changes must be made by calling the office or writing a note.
